Data and saving
The application stores all your project data in the Wepall cloud. To do so, it requires a constant connection to our servers and that no firewall restricts this connection (see the requirements section).
#
NON-automatic saving
The application reads your project data from the server and displays it in your browser. From that moment on, any changes you make are applied only on your device, but they are NOT automatically saved to the cloud, which is where the data is actually stored.
Keep in mind that Wepall runs in a browser, which can be closed or refreshed at any time without prior notice. For this reason, although automatically saving changes may seem tempting, there is a strong reason not to do so: the step-by-step nature of the workflow. Users may perform seemingly harmless actions that imply deep changes, which are sometimes unintuitive and rarely detectable until it is too late.
Some examples of problematic situations
- Deleting a preset from a recipe you are already using could cause the loss of the original pattern.
- Modifying a product preset to change its size in a previously created pattern could produce product overlap, requiring manual repositioning.
- Adding or removing zones in the End Effector preset could remove information about the different product placements on the pack (those zones may no longer exist!).
For this reason, to preserve your changes (and not only in your browser while it remains open), at certain moments and from time to time, the application will display an upload confirmation window.
IN SUMMARY
- Data is only stored when you upload your project to the cloud
- If you make unwanted changes while editing a project, it is better to exit the project without uploading those changes to the cloud before continuing to edit it.
- Each change should be carefully considered, especially without prior experience. When something does not seem right, do not save your changes and reload your project.
Better safe than sorry
When you are working on an important recipe, it is sometimes better to create a clone of it, as well as clones of its presets and patterns, in order to experiment without fear of accidentally damaging your original recipe.
